The second seminar on party building and ideological and political work of the Nanbo Group was held at the second academic lecture hall at Guangzhou Nanyang Polytechnic College on Nov 24. Liao Ronghui, Director of the Department of Organization of the Education Department of Guangdong Province, Chen Jinlong, Dean of the Faculty of the Marx of South China Normal University and a distinguished professor of the “Yangtze River Scholars” of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, leaders and over 300 teaching and administrative staff engaged in party building and ideological and political work of Guangdong University of Science and Technology (GUST), Guangzhou Nanyang Polytechnic College and South China Business Trade College attended the seminar. More than 40 people including leaders of our school, middle-level cadres, and authors of excellent papers attended the seminar.
The theme of this seminar was "Gathering the souls and cultivating talents, and injecting deep feelings towards family and the country", aiming to give full play to the advantages of the group’s supervision over the three university and colleges, to consolidate the educational resources and teaching wisdom of the three university and colleges, and to innovate the methods of the party building and ideological and political work.

At the beginning of the meeting, Director Liao Ronghui delivered a speech.
Director Liao fully affirmed the contribution and innovative exploration on party building and ideological and political work of the three university and colleges of the Nanbo Group, and stood at the strategic height of "educating talents for the party and the country", then, he sincerely proposed 4 suggestions: First, it is necessary to strengthen the party's overall leadership over all work at universities and colleges, to ensure that the direction, the fundamental tasks and the goals are not wavered. The second is to make efforts to be the vanguard of party building and ideological and political work among private universities in Guangdong Province. The third is to consolidate and deepen the educational achievements of the theme of “Don’t forget the original heart and keep the mission in mind”. The fourth is to further consolidate the foundation of party building at the grassroots level and strengthen the cultivation and creation of the brand of party building.
After the fair evaluation of the selection committee, 3 first prize papers, 5 second prize papers, 10 third prize papers, and 17 excellent prizes were finally selected, among which, our school won 1 first prize, 3 second prizes, 4 third prizes, and 8 excellent prizes.

At the seminar, Professor Chen Jinlong gave a report of "An Overall Interpretation of Xi Jinping's Socialist Thought with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era”, in which he deeply interpreted Xi Jinping's thoughts on socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era with case studies in terms of ideological formation, system structure, main features, and historical status, which broadened the horizon for participants of the seminar to further understand the ideological connotation and theoretical essence.
Dean Ye Runping gave an overall comment on the award-winning theses.
He believed that the papers submitted to the selection committee reflected the authors’ meaningful thoughts quite well on strengthening and improving the ideological and political education and party building in private universities.
Subsequently, group discussions on the topics of "Party Construction Work", "Ideological and Political Course Teaching and Ideological and Political Course", and "Ideological and Political Work of students" were held. During the discussion, the participants discussed heatedly and conducted an in-depth discussion on different situations encountered at work. The discussions were rich in content and the results were fruitful.
After the group discussion, the recorders of each group reported the results according to the discussion topics and content.
Finally, Li Guonian, President of Guangzhou Nanyang Polytechnic College, summarized the content and achievements of this seminar. He believed that the seminar was“compact and relaxing with rich content and enlightenment, both high and grounded”. There were both macro-rational analysis and micro-practical discussions at the seminar. It had achieved the expected results.
