(College of International Education) Ching-Yaw Chen, President of Shu-Te University, Hui-Lin Chiu, Chair Professor of Graduate School and Department of Visual Communication Design, Shu-Fen Dai, Chief of Section of Recruitment and Planning of Office of International and Cross-Strait Affairs visited Guangdong University of Science and Technology (GUST) for communication and cooperation on Nov 28-29.
During the two days’ visit, leaders of GUST together with President Ching-Yaw Chen and his delegation visited College of Art and Design, College of Computing and College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, and President Ching-Yaw Chen and his delegation exchanged opinions on disciplinary construction with core teachers from these colleges. They also visited Songshan Lake Campus of GUST.
The meeting of communication and exchanges was held in the meeting room 512, Administration Building, Nancheng Campus, GUST on the morning of Nov 28. Liang Ruixiong, President of GUST attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Huang Shuiping, Deputy Dean of College of International Education.
At the meeting, President Liang Ruixiong delivered a welcome speech, in which he warmly welcomed the arrival of President Ching-Yaw Chen and his delegation, and introduced them the construction of the "Two Campuses" model of GUST and the achievements made by GUST in recent years. He also looked back at the history of cooperation between the two universities and expressed that he was pleased to see that the two universities had formed stable relations of cooperation and exchanges. He also hoped that the two universities would further explore and strengthen communication and cooperation.
President Ching-Yaw Chen expressed his gratitude for the warm reception of our school. Then, he introduced the educational philosophy of Shu-Te University. He believed that both universities are young and dynamic private application-oriented undergraduate universities aimed at cultivating high-level as well as high-quality applied talents, and both parties could learn from each other and cooperate in many aspects.
Since our school signed an exchange and cooperation agreement with Shu-Te University in May 2012, the two universities have actively carried out cooperation projects such as teacher and student training in Taiwan, mutual visits between teachers and students, and academic exchanges as well. So far, 108 teachers and students from our school have been sent to Shu-Te University for a semester of training, and more than 30 teachers and students from Shu-Te University have come to our school to participate in short-term exchange activities. The communication and exchanges between the two universities have gradually achieved the expected goal of a win-win situation.
