Two batches of more than 1,300 graduates from the College of Finance and Economics of GUST returned to the campus for graduation procedures on June 26 and 27.
According to the Department of Academic Affairs of GUST, the academic degrees committee of GUST held a meeting of the degree-awarding assessment of the graduates of 2020. There are 4,330 students graduating from GUST this year, including 4,154 undergraduate graduates and 176 vocational college graduates. 4,119 undergraduate graduates were awarded a bachelor’s degree, among whom 1,386 Bachelor of Engineering, 1,431 Bachelor of Administration, 465 Bachelor of Arts, and 150 Bachelor of Fine Arts.
GUST has founded a leadership team for graduates to return to school and leave the school in order to better coordinate and arrange the work of the graduating procedures. All functional departments, secondary colleges, and the property company cooperated and worked together for the graduating procedures for graduates in their return and leaving the school. The university conducted a comprehensive survey of the graduates who were to return to school voluntarily, and did a good job in the 14-day monitoring of the health conditions of graduates before returning to school. The leadership team also organized several epidemic prevention and control exercises and prepared corresponding plans for possible situations.
Affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, many colleges and universities are unable to hold graduation ceremonies as scheduled this year. A few days ago, GUST’s President Liang Ruixiong and the Party Committee Secretary Wu Nianxiang published a letter to the graduates of 2020 on the official website of GUST, in which they promised that "the graduation ceremony of 2020 of GUST will be held after the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic". They also mentioned in the letter that even if the graduates are unable to attend the graduation ceremony due to work or long distance, the university will retain the graduates’ seats and their commencement can be completed by their relatives or close friends. furthermore, graduates of 2020 can also feel the enthusiasm of the graduation ceremony by watching the live Internet broadcast.
