The commendation conference as well as the training and motivation meeting was held successfully to celebrate the Teacher’s Day in the academic lecture hall on the 7th floor of the library of Nancheng campus, and the 6-101 and L6-101 lecture hall of Songshan Lake campus, the 4-101 and 5-101 lecture hall of Nancheng campus were served as branch venues for simultaneous live broadcast of the conference, in which advanced individuals and teachers were commended for their prominent contribution or achievements to the school. GUST’s president Liang Ruixiong, secretary of the party committee Wu Nianxiang, executive vice president Zhou Er’yong, vice president Liu Xi, Li Cai, Sun Jian, Zhao Huihua, and the assistant to the president of GUST Bi Huidong attended the meeting, which was presided over by vice president Li Cai.
The school leaders awarded certificates of honor to commended teachers and expressed thier hope that teachers will continue to play a good leading role. After the prize-awarding ceremony, president Liang Ruixiong delivered a speech, in which he first extended his greetings of Teacher’s Day to all the school staff, and extended his warm congratulations to the teachers who had achieved outstanding results in education and teaching and who had received awards. At the same time, he extended a warm welcome to the 350 new teachers.
In his speech, president Liang Ruixiong reviewed the excellent results achieved by GUST in all aspects in the past academic year. GUST has initiated the mode of running the school of "one school, two campuses" and has been involved in universities which have "more than 20,000 full-time students". At present, the second phase of the Songshan Lake campus of GUST has been fully completed. The number of students on the Songshan Lake campus will exceed 10,000 in the new semester in fall of 2020.
President Liang Ruixiong also pointed out that the next five years will be an important strategic period of opportunities for the development of GUST. The school is striving to make a firm stride towards the goal of building a high-level applied innovation university. A team of highly qualified teachers with innovative spirit are strongly called for.
At last, president Liang Ruixiong encouraged all teachers to continue to keep their feet on the ground, perform their duties, and work hard to build the university into a high-level applied innovation one.
