Teachers’ training conference for all teaching staff of GUST of the 2020-2021 academic year was grandly held in the lecture hall on the seventh floor of the library of Nancheng campus on Sept 8 and 9. The lecture halls of 6-101 at Songshan Lake campus as well as 4-101 at Nancheng campus were held as branch venues of the training conference via live broadcast. GUST’s president Liang Ruixiong, executive vice president Zhou Er’yong, vice president Li Cai and the leaders of the secondary colleges attended the training conference. Nearly 1,100 teachers of GUST attended the conference.
On the first day of the training, vice president Li Cai gave a speech. He first welcomed all the teachers back to the school, and then he introduced the main achievements accomplished by the school during the epidemic in the past six months and the current enrollment situation of the college entrance examination this year. He expressed that all teachers should have a good command of the present rapid development of GUST. He pointed out that the number of full-time teachers of GUST is growing constantly and the number of young teachers also continues to increase. As a result, training meeting has become an important training method. Hence he encouraged all teachers to listen to the report carefully and cherish learning opportunities.
The first day of this training conference was with teaching as the theme, and the second day with scientific research as the theme. And four professors were invited to give lectures on special topics, including Hu Xiaoyong, associate dean of College of Educational and Information Education of South China Normal University, Chen Weimin, vice president of Guangdong University of Technology, Li Yan, deputy director of the Office of Academic Affairs of Guangdong University of Finance, Tao Hong, dean of the School of Education Science and Technology of Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University.
While listening to the speeches delivered by professors and experts, a total of 17 representatives of advanced individuals and teams in the teaching and scientific research fields of the secondary colleges, as well as the heads of related departments introduced the characteristic practices and experiences in scientific research and teaching, which plays a positive role in improving the research and teaching ability of the school’s teaching staff.
Finally, GUST’s executive vice president Zhou Er’yong made a concluding speech at the training conference, in which he explained to the participants of the training conference separately on the key words of “ability panic”, “entropy increase”, “recombination”, “common and difference”, “key elements” and “competition”.
Executive vice president Zhou Er’yong quoted a message from a net friend who commented on the anti-epidemic commendation conference a week before: "The prosperity of a country cannot be separated from the leadership of role models, and the prosperity of a nation cannot be separated from spiritual support". He held the opinion that it also applies to the construction and development of a university. He believed that a promising and bright prospect for GUST is on the way with the support of positive spirit and the guidance of GUST's outstanding leaders and teaching staff.
