Professor Gu Yong’an, a noted professor from Changshu Institute of Technology and a distinguished expert of the National Center for Schooling Development Programme, was invited to GUST to give professional guidance on the discipline construction of GUST on Apr. 21-22. Zhou Er’yong, Executive Vice President of GUST, related cadres and teachers of the school attended the symposium.
Professor Gu delivered a report on the strategic choice for high-quality development of applied undergraduate universities in the lecture hall on the 8th floor of the Administration Building of Nancheng Campus on the afternoon of Apr. 21. More than 150 school staff which included heads of administrative departments, heads of secondary colleges, leaders of key disciplines, directors of teaching and research departments, as well as key teachers attended the meeting.
Professor Gu pointed out that application-oriented universities should put the transformation and comprehensive reform in a prominent position, take the construction of key disciplines as an important entry point and carry forward the comprehensive reform hand in hand so as to jointly promote the comprehensive and high-quality development, which deeply inspired teachers who were present at the symposium. And in the meeting held on the morning of Apr. 22, Professor Gu fully affirmed and gave his professional guidance on the development of GUST and academic achievements made by secondary colleges.
At the end of the symposium, Executive Vice President Zhou and some cadres of GUST present at the meeting took a group photo with Professor Gu, and Executive Vice President Zhou presented Professor Gu with books on the development achievements of the "Guangke Model" and souvenirs with local characteristics.
