Recently, according to the "Notice on Establishing Doctoral Workstations in 206 Institutes including Affiliated Cancer Hospital and Institute of Guangzhou Medical University" issued by the Human Resources and Social Security Department of Guangdong Province, GUST has officially been approved to set up a doctoral workstation.
According to official statistics, GUST currently has more than 1,300 full-time teachers, of which the proportion of teachers with doctoral degrees (including doctoral students) is 10.33%, and the proportion of teachers with master's degree and above is 84.94%. GUST plans to continue to increase investment during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period to build a scientific and technological park on the Songshan Lake campus. At the same time, GUST will implement the "Double Hundred Project" for the construction of the high-level teaching and administrative team, that is, it plans to recruit 100 talents with doctoral degrees, supports 100 incumbent teachers to study for doctoral degrees, and steadily promotes the construction of doctoral professionals in key disciplines.
The successful approval of the doctoral workstation is a landmark breakthrough that GUST has made in the construction of the talent team, disciplines, and scientific research platform. The doctoral workstation can also further enhance GUST’s academic research capabilities. By building a platform for industry-university-research-application cooperation, the doctoral research capabilities can be strengthened, and the faculty structure can be continuously optimized, laying a solid foundation for the development of a high-level applied innovation university.
