On the afternoon of October 12, the final of the 2018 “Win in Dongguan” Science and Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition for College Students was concluded in the gymnasium of Guangdong University of Science and Technology(GUST). A total of 10 teams from 4 local universities of Dongguan, including GUST, Dongguan University of Technology, Guangdong Medical University and Dongguan Polytechnic competed in the competition. In the end,GUST won four grand prizes in the competition, with a total prize of 230,000 yuan, ranking first among all the competitors.Among them, Tian Dizhi won the first prize, Peng Zhixin won the second prize, Dai Zhenyu won the third prize, and Chu Yi Fashion Design Studio won the third prize.
This competition is sponsored by Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province, Dongguan Science and Technology Bureau, Dongguan Education Bureau and hosted by Dongguan Computer Center and GUST. As an important part of the Science and Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, the competition among college students received 100 entries from all colleges and universities in Dongguan since May, 2018. Projects involves e-commerce, costume design, health care, cultural creativity, new services as well as advanced technological research and development in other fields. One first prize, three second prizes and six third prizes were set in the final, with awards of 100,000 yuan, 50,000 yuan and 30,000 yuan respectively, and the total bonus was as high as 430,000 yuan.
A total of eight projects from the student entrepreneurial teams of GUST have won awards in the first three competitions since 2016. The one awarded the first prize in 2017, “JAMYO Internet + Street Dance”, has now developed into a well-known domestic hip-hop platform on the Internet, with more than 1.3 million enrollment. It’s company valuation reaches $200 million yuan till now.
