The University Students Sports Meeting is held every four years in Guangdong Province, representing the highest level of sports of the province, which is also known as "Guangdong Sports Olympic Games". This sorts meeting had 11 competition events, including athletics, swimming, basketball, volleyball, football, table tennis, badminton, tennis, martial arts routine, aerobics and orienteering. A total of 133 universities and colleges participated in the competition (62 undergraduate universities and 71 academics) with more than 11,600 athletes, 3,500 coaches, nearly 1,000 referees as well as more than 1,000 members from all delegations. The number of participating universities, teams and athletes is the highest ever.

University News (Public Foundation Division)The track and field competition of the 10th Guangdong University Games was held as scheduled in Guangdong University of Foreign Studies in May. Teachers from the Public Foundation Department of GUST, Li Jin, Cai Feng and Wang Lei, led our students to Guangdong University of Foreign Studies to participate in the competition. On May 18th , Huang Zhenyong, a student of GUST, won the gold medal in the men's 400m race with a time of 49.57 seconds. Student Mai Luyao won the 8th place in the women's shot put with a score of 9.17 meters. Players of GUST participated in the men's and women's discus competition and passed the qualifying competition successfully. The men's 4*100m event advanced to the final with a time of 44.36.
