Professor Jun Liu, the Rector of City University of Macau (CityU) and an internationally renowned educator and scholar, was invited to GUST to give a lecture themed with “The Ten Elements of Success” in the Sixth Nanbo Education Summit on November 7-8. GUST conferred an Honorary Professor on Professor Jun Liu in the Summit. Liu Dongfeng, the Chairman of the Nanbo Group, Liang Ruixiong, the President of GUST, Bi Huidong, the Assistant of the President of GUST and other leaders attended the Summit, which was presided over by Zhou Er’yong, the Executive Vice President of GUST and the Director of the Nanbo Research Institute.
Professor Jun Liu has been appointed as the Rector of CityU since March 1, 2021 and has distinguished himself by establishing a track record of success in the field of Applied Linguistics, Intercultural Communication and Second Language Acquisition and Teaching. As an international leader in the field of language education, Dr. Liu became the first Asian and nonnative English-speaking President of TESOL International and is the recipient of the James E Alatis Award of Outstanding Service to TESOL. Professor Liu is experienced in higher education administration and management and believes that CityU will seize this historic opportunity to develop higher education in Macau.
GUST has established a friendly and cooperative relationship with CityU since 2019. Professor Liu was invited to GUST for in-depth discussions on collaboration project between GUST and CityU. The Nanbo Education Summit is recognized as one of the significant academic activities hosted by the Nanbo Research Institute of the Nanbo Group. Professor Liu, the first overseas scholar invited to lecture at the Summit, deeply inspired the students of GUST.
