The finals of the first Basic Teaching Skills Competition for Teachers in Aesthetic Education in Guangdong Province, sponsored by the Department of Education of Guangdong Province and jointly held by South China Normal University and Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, was held in the college town in Guangzhou. The competition provided a platform for teachers in aesthetic education of Guangdong province to display teaching results and exchange teaching experience, which boosted the emphasis given on aesthetic education in higher education and the academic development of teachers in this area. Teachers in aesthetic education from universities and colleges in Guangdong province actively participated in the competition. There were nearly 1,000 contestants from more than 100 universities and colleges which included South China Normal University, South China University of Technology, Jinan University, Guangzhou University, and Xinghai Conservatory of Music. The competition adopted multiple modules such as classroom teaching videos, professional skills display, teaching skills display, keynote speeches, and artistic quality assessment. After two days of severe competitions in the finals on November 13-14, Ms. Shasha Zhao, a teacher from the College of Public Courses of GUST, won the individual all-around first prize.
