(International Education College) The three days of the Third Sino-US Cultural Exchange Camp of GUST in 2019 successfully concluded on May 23rd.
10 American teachers and students from the University of Wisconsin Stout and more than 30 students from GUST participated in the exchange camp with the theme of "cultural exchange" and "industrial intelligent manufacturing".

On the morning of May 21st, the teachers and students of our university together with the American students visited the the exhibition hall of Lee Kum Kee Group (Xinhui), got to know Lee Kum Kee Group’s history, development and innovative technology. We learned about the historical changes of Lee Kum Kee Group from the staff's description in English and understood the pursuit of taste of traditional Chinese cuisine. American teachers and students watched food processing techniques which deepened their understanding of the traditional culture of Chinese cuisine.

At 14:30 in the afternoon, Chinese and American teachers and students conducted an English case teaching with the theme of "Chinatown immigration" in classroom 7-205. The questions raised by Professor Christopher heated up the discussion of the impact of immigration on the local economy and culture. The exchanges of ideas in class, sparks of ideas collided with each other's cultural thinking and different cultural backgrounds broadened the horizon of teachers as well as students from both sides.

At 9:00 am on the morning of May 22nd, at 9:00 am, teachers and students of our school together with the teachers and students of the University of Wisconsin Stout visited Guangdong Jinsheng Intelligent Group Co., LTD., a leader in precise manufacturing and intelligent technology of its field. Teachers and students from both sides learned about robotics, intelligent manufacturing, precision structural parts, high-end equipment manufacturing and other knowledge. Then they also visited industrial workshops and watched industrial products, which enabled American teachers and students to understand the trend of cutting-edge technology of "Dongguan Intelligent Manufacturing" and appreciate the charm of "Industrial Dongguan".

At 15:00 in the afternoon, our university held a Sino-US Cultural Exchange Sodality for American teachers and students. Dr. Zhou Eryong, Executive Vice President of GUST, delivered a welcome speech and described GUST’s development as well as accomplishment and international cooperation and exchanges with overseas universities in recently years. Then he told the story of "high mountains and flowing water" to the Chinese and American students to express GUST’s goal of "communicating more, enhancing understanding, establishing friendship and becoming bosom friends with overseas universities".
After that, through traditional Chinese cultural art performance, including ethnic musical instrument performance, calligraphy, paper-cutting and martial arts, combined with modern pop music and melodrama, and the perfect combination of traditional culture and popular elements, the students of GUST showed the Chinese culture and the GUST campus culture for the American teachers and students, which won the cheers of the American teachers and students. Later, Chinese and American students practiced calligraphy and paper cutting together on the stage, which brought them closer to each other and established profound friendship. Our university also presented the American teachers and students with paper fans written with Chinese ancient poems as souvenirs. There were nearly two hours of applause and laughter.
On the morning of May 23rd, teachers and students from China and the United States visited the Dongguan City Exhibition Hall together to fully understand the history, culture, economy and social development of Dongguan City, and deeply feel the infinite charm and vitality of Dongguan City.
This is the third cultural exchange camp for GUST students and American university students held by GUST. Since 2017, 45 American teachers and students have come to our school to participate in the Sino-US cultural exchange camp. This activity has effectively enhanced the friendship between GUST and American universities, the American students' understanding of Dongguan City’s culture, industrial development and GUST’s development, broadened the horizon of our GUST‘s’ teachers and students.
