(Party Work Department) Guangdong University of Science and Technology (GUST) held her Commencement Graduation Ceremony in the gymnasium on June 24th. Liang Ruixiong, President of GUST, Secretary of the party and Chairman of Academic Degree Evaluation Committee; Zhou Er'yong, Executive Vice President of GUST and Vice Chairman of Academic Degree Evaluation Committee; Li Cai, Vice President of GUST and Vice Chairman of Academic Degree Evaluation Committee; Sun Jian, Vice President of GUST; Wang Yanbin, Vice President of GUST; Zhao Huihua, Vice President of GUST; Deng Zhixiong, Assistant to President of GUST; Deans of Secondary Colleges; heads of departments; and committee members of Academic Degree Evaluation Committee, namely Prof. Yu Dongmei, Prof. Liu Chao, Prof. Xiao Shicong, Prof. Chen Guangyuan, Prof. Shen Panyang, Prof. Luo Ming, Prof. Yu Yuhuan, Prof. Gao Yinqiao, Prof. Gai Xiaolan, Prof. Tan Liping and Prof. Dai Yong attended the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Chen Biaoxin, Vice Secretary of the party and Vice President of GUST.
There were 4559 students graduating from GUST and stepping into soceity in all.
Liang Ruixiong, President of GUST and Chairman of Academic Degree Evaluation Committee, delivered a speech "Remember your original dream and move ahead practically." President Liang, on behalf of GUST, expressed his sincere thanks to teachers who had been working hard to cultivate graduates and students' relatives who had been caring for them. He also extended warm congratulations to students who were graduating from GUST.
President Liang Ruixiong, together with graduates, recalled previous campus life as well as the rapid development of GUST over the years. He pointed out that GUST will become an institute of higher education with two campuses covering large areas, characteristics in science and technology and a population of more than 20,000 in the near future. He said that graduates should not feel sorrowful over graduation, but step into society with Guangke Spirit and wishes from teachers and begin brand-new journeys in smiles.
