(Department of Party Affairs) The Opening Ceremony for freshmen and Report Performance of Military Training in 2019 was held at Nancheng campus on the morning of Sept. 24. The uniform team-shaped movement and a high-spirited state of mind of freshmen won the applause of everyone.
Chen Zehua, deputy commander of the Military Division in Dongguan, Lin Dongsheng, director of Education Base of National Defense in Dongguan, Yuan Xuhui, staff officer of Dongguan Division, Mao Yifeng, Vice Minister of Department of Armed Forces of Nancheng, President Liang Ruixiong, Party Secretary Wu Nianxiang, Executive Vice President Zhou Er’yong, Vice President Sun Jian, Vice President Li Cai, Vice President Wang Yanbin, Vice President Zhao Huihua, Deng Zhixiong, Assistant to the President, and leaders of secondary colleges attended the ceremony, which was presided over by Vice President Chen Biaoxin.
President Liang made a speech at the ceremony. He expressed his congratulations to the freshmen, and his high respect for the instructors and teachers who worked hard for the success of military training. He also expressed his sincere gratitude to the Dongguan Military Division, the Department of Armed Forces of Nancheng for their guidance and support for the military training of our school.
President Liang also reviewed the history of GUST and expressed his expectations for the freshmen. Since its establishment 16 years ago, GUST’s ability of running the school and its comprehensive strength have been steadily improved. The school’s disciplines and scientific research capabilities have made continuous progress, and its social influence has expanded. It has developed into a modern multidisciplinary university and keeps moving towards the goal of building a high-level applied university.
Secretary Wu Nianxiang read out the "Decision on Recognizing the Advanced Collectives and Advanced Individuals of the Military Training in 2019". According to the relevant regulations of the "Military Training Regulations of GUST", she announced the awards of 15 advanced collectives, 207 advanced individuals, 11 excellent instructors, 28 excellent assistants to instructors. At last, she called on all freshmen to abide by disciplines and strive to become a qualified and reliable successor of the socialist cause with ideals, morality, culture and discipline.
