After the military training, according to the "Notice of the Department of Education of Guangdong Province on Completion of the First Ideological and Political Theory Course Delivered by the Party Committee Secretary, the Principal, and the Dean (Department) of the College in the Fall of 2019", the president of our school, the party secretary, deans of the secondary colleges jointly gave the 2019 freshmen the first ideological and political course with the theme of "being patriotic and aimed at serving the country, and being self-confident, self-reliant, self-disciplined, and responsible for becoming college students of the new era".
President Liang Ruixiong started the course with the video "Xi Jinping describes the new era for you", let all freshmen of 2019 follow the story told by General Secretary Xi Jinping to appreciate the new look of the motherland in the new era, and understand the historical achievements of China in various fields since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, which has made students clear that China is facing major development opportunities as well as enormous challenges from both home and abroad. Then, President Liang borrowed the speech of General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered to young students at the 100th anniversary of the May Fourth Movement this year, which led to the second part of the course: in the new era, college students must be self-confident, self-reliant, self-disciplined and responsible.
President Liang stressed that college students of the new era must behave according to the following principles: first, always be full of confidence in the party and the country, firmly believe that the Chinese nation will inevitably make great achievements; second, have confidence in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Dongguan City, combine our own development with the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the construction of “Quality Dongguan”, and firmly believe that the rapid development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Dongguan City will be an excellent opportunity for us to grow into talents; third, have strong confidence in school, in our majors and in ourselves.
President Liang hopes that every student will make a good plan for the four years of study in GUST and look forward to seeing everyone confident in the classroom, on the field, on the stage, in the sports field and in the community in the near future by studying hard and cultivating hobbies. He also hopes that students will be able to achieve self-discipline and self-improvement, grow up into talents, work hard to embrace a new era and forge a new era, so that the youth can shine more brilliantly in the great cause of realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation!
Secretary Wu Nianxiang expounded that the Chinese nation has entered a new era of "strengthening up", and China will also open a new journey of socialist modernization and strengthening the country. Through the first ideological and political theory course, the freshmen of our school have had a better understanding of the policies of the country and a correct understanding of the current political situation, which will effectively stimulate the patriotism of freshmen and guide them to establish correct life goals. In this way, they will better know themselves and learn to plan their university life reasonably.
