The forum was presided over by Zhou Er’yong, Chairman of Nanbo Institute of Education and Executive Vice President of GUST. To begin with, Chairman Zhou extended warm welcome to Chairman Ma and all the audience present at the forum and pointed out that some well-known educational experts have been invited to speak at the former two expert forum, such as Zhong Binglin, Huang Daren and Yu Zhongwen, which provided an extraordinary opportunity for leaders as well as teachers of colleges and university under the administration of Nanbo Group and enhanced the understanding of educational policies and guidelines for cadres and specialized teachers, and deepen their understanding of the concept of how to administrate colleges and universities. He also said that it was an honor to have invited Chairman Ma to participate in this forum as Ma has many years of in-depth research on vocational education and applied higher education, so it was of certainty that the forum would be a perfect chance of further understanding of higher education.
Then Chairman Ma delivered a speech titled “Reflection on the Integration of Production and Education and the High-quality Training of High-end Talents With Technical Skills”, in which he firstly answered the major political issue of “what kind of concept we should hold and consolidate and what we are supposed to perfect and develop” on the foundation of the national system as well as governance. In the area of higher education, we must also think about the proposition of "what kind of concept we should hold and consolidate and what we are supposed to perfect and develop".
As a well-known expert on education evaluation, Chairman Ma also listed some excellent cases on the integration of production and education, and shared the successful experience of Shenzhen Polytechnic, Wuwei Occupational College and other colleges, and introduced the process of the integration of education and the development requirements, including advanced technical and technological elements and excellent traditional culture, thereby enhancing the deep integration of production and education and truly achieving the cultivation of high-end talents with technical skills. After the speech, Chairman Ma answered questions raised by audience, such as how to encourage enterprises to actively integrate with educational institutions, and how to cultivate students' good study habits. Chairman Ma’s in-depth, wise and humorous answers won a burst of applause and brought valuable enlightenment to the audience. The atmosphere was relaxing as well as pleasant.
At the end of the forum, Chairman Zhou said that Chairman Ma’s lectures played an important guiding role in deepening the integration of production and education and improving the ability to serve the society of the three colleges as well as university under the administration of Nanbo Group. Also, teachers should strengthen the research capabilities, and it is necessary for colleges as well as universities to promote the deepening of teaching reform and achieve high quality and sustainable development.
Chairman Ma believes that Chinese education has always advocated "teaching and educating people", so our vocational education also emphasizes "people-oriented, in both moral and technical standard." Therefore, vocational education should fall in the basic tasks and overall requirements proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping, firmly grasp the fundamental task of cultivating socialist builders and successors, adhere to the cultivating high-end technical talents with high quality. Ma also briefly analyzed the current vocational education in western developed countries such as Germany, the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom, and believed that the integration of production and education is the common experience of vocational education in the whole world. Therefore, the development of vocational education in China, while facing the development requirements of the new era, must pay attention to deepening the integration of production and education.
