Since 2012, GUST has signed exchange and cooperation memorandums with universities in Taiwan, including Taiwan Shu-Te University, St. John’s University, and Chung Yuan Christian University to jointly carry out cooperation programs, including short-term training, teacher-student visits, and academic exchanges to promote a smooth and stable relationship with higher education institutions in Taiwan.
We have so far sent over 300 teachers and students to Taiwan for a one-semester training program, and organized over 40 members on the university administration team for short-term exchange visits. We have also received teachers and students from around 100 universities in Taiwan for professional and academic exchanges. Cross-strait university students’ cultural exchange activities have been held for multiple times, and over 100 students from Taiwan have participated in activities organized by our university, including visits to famous local enterprises, entrepreneurship exchanges, professional seminars, and basketball competitions. In 2018, we co-hosted the Third Summer Camp for University Students in Dongguan and Taiwan, which attracted nearly 100 students from over 10 colleges and universities for a 10-day experience of local history, culture, sports and industry of Dongguan. The event helped deepen the mutual understanding, as well as economic and cultural exchanges between Dongguan and Taiwan.
