On March 16, the 2023 "Challenge Cup" GUST Students Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology final contest and work exhibition was held in Songshan Lake Campus. This competition is divided into four parts: work exhibition, opening ceremony, on-site review and closing ceremony. 36 projects from six secondary colleges have been selected through layers of selection. The final outstanding works selected will represent the university to participate in the 17th "Challenge Cup" National College Students Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Final Contest in Guangdong Province.
More than 2000 people visited the exhibition, including school leaders, invited judges, project members and advisors. The teams will set up stalls on the overhead floors of Building 4, 5 and 6. The well-arranged booths and the entries with novel appearance and unique functions attracted teachers and students to watch. The participating teams actively answered the questions of the visiting teachers and students and explained the design principle and development prospect of the works to them. Those works attracted the keen interest of the teachers and students.
The final competition has set up sub-venues for natural science, scientific and technological invention, and sub-venues for philosophy and social science. The two venues have been closed for defense at the same time. Participants have presented their project concepts and team style from various aspects through PPT presentation, video presentation, physical display and other forms. The judges review and give guidance and suggestions on the innovation points and implementation paths of the project.
"Challenge Cup" competition has been held every two years since 1989, which has developed into the highest level, largest scale and most extensive competition in the field of scientific and technological innovation of college students in China, as known as the "Olympic" event of scientific and technological innovation of contemporary college students.
