On May 21st, 2023 China’s (Guangdong) University Students Fashion Week special show of GUST was held in Exhibition Hall No. 1, 7th Floor, Guangzhou International Textile City. It was broadcasted live simultaneously on the official video platform of GUST, with a total of 7,185 viewers and 54,000 likes.
This Fashion Week is guided by Guangdong Provincial Department of Education and co-sponsored by Guangdong Provincial Garment Industry Association, Guangdong Fashion Designers Association and Guangzhou International Textile City. The 18th China’s (Guangdong) University Students Fashion Week gathers the design strength of Guangdong fashion colleges and universities. Through the holding of college graduation design exhibition, designated fabric group creative design competition, the final of Guangdong College Students Outstanding Fashion Design Competition, celebrity forum, docking exchange meeting and other themed activities, it builds up the industry pioneer design, talent docking and industry-university-research integration industrialization support system, which can help build a strong province with world-class advanced textile and garment industry.
This graduation works exhibition invited Huang Xiaoli, general manager of Dongguan Shengyili Clothing Co., LTD., Wang Xiaohan, Planning director of Yihaishi (Guangzhou) Outdoor Products Co., LTD., Guo Teng, general manager of Guangzhou Tengmei Clothing Co., LTD., Professor Fan Qiang from Huizhou University and Professor Tan Liping from GUST as judges to attend this exhibition. Wen Jinghua, full-time Executive President of Guangdong Fashion Designers Association, Lan Jinkang, General manager of hello APM, Li Cai, Vice president of GUST, Liu Yajun, Dean of College of Art and Design, and Professor Jin Rilong attended this activity as guests.
Vice President Li Cai delivered a welcome speech. First of all, he expressed his sincere thanks to the organizing committee and guests on behalf of the school. Li said that China’s (Guangdong) University Students Fashion Week is the most popular college student fashion stage in China. Through this fashion week, we can interpret the connotation of fashion together with other colleges and universities, and show the charm and teaching results of the fashion major, which will surely enhance the pursuit and exploration of the teachers and students in the aspects of fashion and clothing.
At the same time, Li made a brief introduction about the general situation of fashion design and engineering major. He stressed that the garment major relies on the garment industry in Dongguan, so as to train local innovative talents for senior application of clothing, and further to provide talent services and intellectual support for the garment industry in its transformation and upgrading in Dongguan and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Finally, he expressed his expectation for the students' wonderful fashion works and congratulated the fashion designers of our school on their future career, which contributed to the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area fashion industry.
The theme of this exhibition is "Yan". With needles and threads, the costume people weave the past of laughter, dedication, persistence and persistence, deriving the hope for the future and restarting the new chapter of life. Students in our school interpret the unique ideas of "Generation Z and post-00s" by designing, mixing and recombining elements, and creating new artistic sparks.
In the halftime segment, the dance team of GUST students' Art Troupe prepared a wonderful dance performance. The burst dance music raised the atmosphere of the scene again.
At the end of the show, the model came out hand in hand with the designer. After that, the winning designers was awarded prizes. In the future, GUST will continue to bring students together to bring more different visual feast!
