The College of Public Courses was founded in 2004 and is responsible for the teaching and arrangement of all public courses in GUST. It is consisted of six offices of teaching and research, namely Office of Chinese, Office of Mathematics, Office of Physical Education, Office of Boya Education, Office of Psychological Health, Office of Military Theory.
The College of Public Courses has a team of teaching staff with reasonable structure and excellent teaching ability. There are 98 full-time teachers, including 16 professors and 14 associate professors. It also pays attention to the cultivation of high-quality applied undergraduates. In recent years, the faculty staff have made remarkable achievements in teaching and academic research. From 2016 to 2019, the faculty staff published more than 400 papers of various types, successfully applied for 38 projects, and published 7 textbooks, including New College Chinese, Finance and Accounting Mathematics and Public Physical Education.
The main public courses offered by the College of Public Courses include College Chinese, Advanced Mathematics, Economic Mathematics, Linear Algebra, Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics, Physical Education, Psychological Health Education for College Students, Military Theory Education, etc. It also offers around 30 operational elective Boya courses, such as Operational Research, Mathematical Culture, Appreciation of Literature, Appreciation of Arts, Advertising, Lecture and Eloquence, Training of Vocal Music, General Analysis of Folk Songs and Operas.
